Program Overview

This year, just like everything else, ODS will look different, but our goals are still the same.
Rogue ODS envisions an experience where students are hands-on, asking questions, engaging in collaborative problem solving and using scientific principles as their guide.

Introduction

To start off your ODS program we will present a 1 hour synchronous introductory lesson to introduce the instructors, get to know each other and learn about ODS traditions.

Field Study

Recreation

Closing

Three lively and hands-on synchronous field study lessons will be presented by our instructors through your digital classroom platform.  In addition, two asynchronous explorations are provided for each field study that are accessed through our website's interactive map.
Recreation is always a highlight of ODS.  Included in your ODS program are instructional videos and materials for students to create and tie their own friendship bracelets.
At the end of the ODS week will will hold an in-person closing ceremony.  Students will participate in a modified campfire program and tree planting ceremony to close out their week.

Field Trip Day

A single day in-person field trip will be offered if COVID-19 guidelines permit.  This field trip can take place at your school site or a local outdoor space.  The field trip takes the place of the 4th field study.  If we are not able to provide in-person field trips then another synchronous field study will be added to your virtual program.

Student Exploration Kits

Students will be provided exploration kits with all the materials they will need to participate in ODS.  Materials include:
  • Student Notebook
  • Wood cookie name tag and beads
  • Colored Pencils
  • Magnifying lens
  • Plant specimens
  • Owl pellets and dissection tools
  • Play dough
  • Friendship bracelet string
  • Wildflower seeds
